Stopping points of the tour

Havana

The best thing about Havana is the city itself - its architecture, streets and famous promenades. Especially famed is the historical centre of the city that was declared part of the world's cultural heritage. This vibrant city is a scientific and cultural centre. Within its 47 km of coastline, you will find 20 km of beaches as well as places to go diving and deep-sea fishing.

Varadero

Varadero is Cuba's beach paradise number 1! It is also known as the Playa Azul because of its 20kms long white-sand beaches and tropical sea waters. Varadero is located on the Cuban peninsula Hicacos and offers many restaurants, bars and tourists spots where you can enjoy yourself or take long walks through the nature.

Viñales

Just across a natural pathway and waters of Aguas Claras in the valley Pinar del Rio one can find Viñales. Vinales is a well known region thanks to its many valleys full of tabacco fields majorly contributing to Cuban tabacco production. Do not miss to explore Vinales' natural rocks formations and caves like the famous Cueva del Indio.

Cienfuegos

The city Cienfuegos stretches over the Jagua Bay, located at the entrance to the Caribbean sea. Due to its strategically favorable position, Cienfuegos was a long time strategical position used by pirates in their attacks on Spanish ships.

Trinidad

This city is considered to be one of Cuba’s main attractions. The traffic free, colonial district with its colourful houses and old, massive cobblestone crowns the rest of the city as its highest point. You can admire interesting details of colonial architecture when walking through the streets around Plaza Mayor. Especially famous are the high windows with their skilfully carved wooden bars that were replaced last century by iron bars. These so-called rejas invite the energetic street life into the house, rather than excluding it. Around Plaza Mayor, the most elegant square in Cuba, stand the city palaces of Trinidad’s richest families: Iznagas, Ortiz and Brunete, whose palaces are nowadays museums.

Santa Clara

Santa Clara was founded in July 1589 by a group of Remedios' inhabitants who moved to this place in order to escape from pirates attacks. Santa Clara plays an important role in the 1958 Revolution: it was a place of the final battle including guerillas led by Che Guevara when the Batista dictatorship won in the end.

Today you can visit a Revolution dedicated museum and a mausoleum of "Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara " in the small town of Santa Clara. Plaza de la Revolución saw very significant 30-years Revolution Anniversary celebrations organised in this Cuban town.

Matanzas

Matanzas boasts a 4th largest sugar exporting port in the world and industrially, it is the most important city in Cuba.

Matanzas offers great boat-rides on its Yumurí river and you will notice many bridges over the Yumuri and San Juan rivers. The city's theatre 'Teatro Sauto' was designed by the Italian architect Daniele Dell'Aglio and is the pride of Matanzas. The theatre was built in a solid, classical style with many different Carrara-marble statues done in Greek style.

Its many frescoes reflect the Renaissance period and were provided by the theaters architects. The interior unique acoustics attract many artists from all over the world.

Also in the same city-zone in which the old pilgrimage church 'Ermita de Catalanes de Monserrat' can be found, one can stop to enjoy the marvelous view over the Yumuri valley before continuing one's tour around Matanzas.
