Medical Care
In any larger city, there is always pharmacy (farmacia). These are generally open Mon-Fri 9-12:30 and 1:30-7:00. In the resorts there are during the season, free medical care services (Guardia Medica Turistica), and hospitals will receive tourists at any time for free First Aid (Pronto Soccorso).
Nightlife
For those night owls, spend an extraordinary evening from mid June to mid September experiencing what Calabria has to offer. Numerous pubs, nightclubs and bars to create the ideal atmosphere to share with friends and fellow fans of Calabria. Enjoy vibrant rhythms of live music and the most brilliant starry sky for unforgettable evenings.
Telephone
For calling both locally and long distance in Italy requires dialing the area code before the number. For example, for calls to Rome, you must dial 06 first then the number. Public telephones are available throughout Italy. Both local and international calls require the use of a phone card called, Carta Telefonica. These can be purchased at any news stand or coffee shop. Two important emergency phone numbers- dial 118 for medical emergencies and 112 for Carabinieri's service.
Travel Tips
As an ideal travel we recommend April to early July, when everything is blooming, and September / October when the autumn everything in wonderful warm colors appear. Although the off-season some benefits to some limited offer is the peace and tranquility during this time especially pleasant, because in high season also leave the Italians in their own country and it is sometimes very loud and too crowded.
Tourist Health Services and Insurance
There are no medical programs covering U.S. and Canada citizens in Italy. For this reason U.S. and Canadian tourists should consider purchasing a travel health insurance policy before traveling. Vaccinations are not required to enter Italy and medicine can be purchased only from the pharmacy- regardless if it is over the counter.
Voltage
The electricity cycle is 50Hz 220 V. So if you are planing on carrying a latop or any electric applicances, you should purchase a European plug adapter.
